History
Memorial City Houston is a commercial district in Houston Texas. Memorial City is located by Interstate 10 and Beltway 8, close to Bunker Hill Road. Large portions of Memorial City are owned by MetroNational, a development firm. The area of Memorial City is most commonly known for its flagship mall, Memorial City Mall.
Memorial City Mall, otherwise known as the Memorial City Shopping Center opened in 1966. The mall included 42 stores and was a major player for growth and development within the surrounding area. By the 1970's, the Memorial City area was one of the fastest growing areas in the Houston area.
Today, Memorial City Mall and the surrounding area has gone over substantial growth and development changes. The mall has been expanded and renovated, Memorial Hermann has developed a large hospital in the area and also many luxury hotels have planted roots such as the The Westin Memorial and Hotel Zaza.
The Memorial City area is very diverse and full of industries, many in the oil and gas industry. Close to the Energy Corridor area, Memorial City Houston is a great location for working, living and playing.

Shopping is a plus if you visit the Memorial City area of Houston. Memorial City Mall serves as the benchmark for shopping in the area, and not to far behind the Town and Country Shopping Center is full of a variety of resale stores and office spaces. CITYCENTRE is also a newer development in Memorial City and is packed full of great shopping, restaurants and hotels.
There are plenty of activities to do if adventure is what is preferred. Memorial City's iFly Indoor Sky Diving, Terry Hersey Park Bike Path and many nature preserves are great to visit and tour.
The Memorial City area of Houston has plenty of Luxury Hotels such as Hotel Zaza and the Memorial City Westin Hotel. Fine dining is not hard to come by in the Memorial City area either. Delicious quick eats and sit down fine dining are easy venues to find in the Memorial City area.
